Help & common problems

Question 1

No recipe found on that page

Accepted Answer

The page has no structured recipe data — it may be behind a paywall, be a video, or come from a site we can’t read. Try the site’s print view or an AMP link, which often expose the ingredients. If that fails, paste the ingredient list by hand into the import box.

Question 2

That page wouldn’t load

Accepted Answer

The site blocked our reader, the page is down, or the request timed out. Check the link opens normally in a browser, then try again. Try the site’s print view, or paste the ingredients by hand.

Question 3

That link can’t be imported

Accepted Answer

The site is on our safety list (malware or phishing), or the recipe was removed at an owner’s request. Use a different link, or paste the ingredients by hand. If you believe the block is a mistake, contact us.

Question 4

YouTube recipes ask me to sign in

Accepted Answer

Video imports aren’t available in no-account (local) mode. Sign in to import from YouTube, or paste the ingredients by hand.

Question 5

No recipe found in that video

Accepted Answer

The video’s description and pinned comment contain no ingredient list and no link to a recipe. Paste the ingredients by hand. Or ask the creator to add the ingredients to the description.

Question 6

Too many requests at once

Accepted Answer

You’ve hit the import rate limit. Wait a minute, then try again.

Question 7

Too much in one import

Accepted Answer

A single request carried more items or ingredient lines than we accept. Import fewer links at a time. One list holds up to 30 recipes; one recipe can have up to 200 ingredient lines.

Question 8

I keep being asked to sign in

Accepted Answer

Your session expired or your browser cleared its cookies. Sign in again. If it happens immediately, make sure cookies are allowed for this site.

Question 9

Sign-in didn’t finish

Accepted Answer

The provider cancelled or denied the request, or the callback didn’t return to us. Start sign-in again from the same browser. If one provider keeps failing, try another.

Question 10

A list or recipe isn’t there anymore

Accepted Answer

It was deleted or archived, or the link belongs to an account you’re not signed into. Check you’re signed into the right account. Look in your Archived lists. If someone shared it with you, ask them for a fresh link.

Question 11

I can’t change this list

Accepted Answer

You have view access to this list, not edit access. Ask the owner to share it with you again, with edit permission.

Question 12

This list can’t be edited

Accepted Answer

The list’s week is over, or the list is archived. Copy the recipe into a current list. Or restore the list from your Archived lists first.

Question 13

A recipe can’t be copied into that list

Accepted Answer

The destination list is archived. Restore the destination from your Archived lists first.

Question 14

This recipe is claimed

Accepted Answer

The whole recipe is claimed, so its individual ingredients can’t be claimed. Unclaim the recipe first, then claim the items you want.

Question 15

I can’t change a single ingredient inside a recipe

Accepted Answer

Ingredients inside a recipe are edited together, not one at a time. Edit the recipe as a whole (rename it, or copy it to another list).

Question 16

An item isn’t in the catalog

Accepted Answer

A food or aisle was renamed or removed after this page loaded. Reload the page, then add the item again.

Question 17

What can people see on a public list?

Accepted Answer

Anyone with the link can open the list and read its recipes and ingredients without signing in. Public lists also appear in Explore, so anyone can find the list’s label, owner name, date range, and recipe count. List notes show the author’s name and avatar, and a recipe someone claimed shows who claimed it. Collaborators and invite links aren’t shown to public viewers. Who added an item is hidden, and your favorites stay yours. Turn the toggle off to remove the list from Explore and stop new viewers opening the link.

Question 18

This invite isn’t valid anymore

Accepted Answer

The invite expired, was revoked, the list was archived, or it was already used. Ask the list owner for a new invite link.

Question 19

The list limit is reached

Accepted Answer

Your plan’s list count is full. Delete or archive a list you no longer need. Or see Pricing for a plan with more lists.

Question 20

The favorite-recipe limit is reached

Accepted Answer

Your plan’s favorite-recipe count is full. Remove a favorite recipe you no longer need. Or see Pricing for a plan with more favorites.

Question 21

This list is full

Accepted Answer

A single list holds at most 30 recipes. Start a second list for the extra recipes.
