Mostaccioli were made with honey or must and spiced with pepper and cinnamon, then cut into diamonds and baked. They kept well and were given as gifts and eaten at festivals.

Spices & Seasoning
Warm honey with a little water and stir in flour, ground almonds, and spices.
Work the mixture into a stiff dough and let it rest.
Roll the dough into ropes and cut them into diamonds.
Bake on a greased sheet until firm and lightly colored.
Cool them and dust with sugar, or glaze with a little honey.
